The Supreme Council for Women: 20 years of dedication to women advancement

Royal University for Women (RUW) extends its warmest congratulations to Her Royal Highness Princess Sabeeka bint Ibrahim Al Khalifa, wife of HM the King and President of the Supreme Council for Women (SCW), on the occasion of the 20th anniversary of the establishment of the Supreme Council for Women.

The Royal University for Women recalls the achievements of the Council and its unremitting efforts under the leadership of Her Royal Highness Princess Sabeeka bint Ibrahim Al Khalifa in making the Kingdom of Bahrain at the forefront of countries in enhancing the status of women as well as their participation in national progress and sustainable development throughout its twenty-year history and since its establishment in  2001, upon the Amiri order of His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa, King of the Kingdom of Bahrain.

The President of the Royal University for Women, Prof Yusra Mouzughi stated that the Supreme Council for Women is a shining light in the modern history of the Kingdom of Bahrain with all its projects and initiatives supporting achievement of Bahraini women's aspirations, preserving their gains, equal opportunities, providing assistance, and celebrating their successes year after year in various fields where they made their pioneering mark.

Professor Mouzughi indicated that the Royal University for Women, as one of the Council's strategic partners in the field of higher education, will always aim to support the Council's efforts in various scientific and academic fields. RUW is proud to partner with the SCW in the  Women's Research Center, alongside the UN ESCWA, which will contribute to consolidating the role of the Kingdom of Bahrain, regionally and internationally, in providing quality research on women and gender issues in the region.
