Transfer Students
TRANSFER STUDENTS
CREDIT TRANSFER AND EXEMPTION
When applying for admission to RUW, applicants may apply for credit transfer by completing the appropriate form at the Office of the Registrar – Admissions Department and providing the required documents as per the below list.
General Information
i. RUW will only accept up to 66% of the total credit hours of undergraduate student’s specific major and 50% of postgraduate student’s specific major.
ii. Students must complete the remaining credit hours towards their degree programme at RUW.
iii. Transfer students cannot register for subsequent courses if their transferred courses do not meet the required criteria.
iv. RUW will not transfer any credits from a similar degree under which the student had previously obtained a certificate before.
i. It must not have been more than 5 years since the student discontinued study at the previous institute , however, exceptional approval from HEC is required for students who do not satisfy this criteria.
ii. Course description from previous institution should be similar to RUW course description.
iii. RUW shall consider the differences between the different educational systems followed at the previous institution and what is being followed at RUW.
iv. Transfer Credits will not be accepted for transfer:
o Subject NQF levels lower than what is offered at RUW.
o Subjects with credits hours less than 3.
o Subjects with Notional Hours less than 12
v. Subjects with only grade C and above will be considered and only if the grade scale is equivalent to RUW grade scale for undergraduate studies.
vi. Subjects with only grade B and above will be considered and only if the grade scale is equivalent to RUW grade scale for postgraduate studies.
vii. Only academic and vocational institutions that are recognized by the HEC or recognized by the authorities in the country granting the certificate will be accepted. RUW holds no responsibility if the institution is not accepted by the HEC.
viii. A single subject should not be equivalent to more than 1 subject at RUW, nor to be considered as an exemption of partial part of the subject or from any of the subject assessments.
ix. Student acknowledgement of the provisional transfer is required before endorsement, Student can appeal the provisional transfer decision and request a re-evaluation by submitting a written appeal to OoR within 5 business days.
x. Transfer credits will appear as (TR) on the official transcript and is counted towards the earned credits; they do not count towards the students Cumulative Grade Point Average.
xi. “Final credit transfer is subject to HEC approval”. RUW holds no responsibility if the transfer application is not approved by the HEC based on their evaluations for some or all subjects.
How to apply for transfer
Applicants upon visiting the Admissions Office will have 30 days from the date of their acceptance to provide the following documents;
- Transfer Credit Application Fee
- Authenticated Original documents (Name as on Passport), according to the below category applicable:
a) Transfer of Credits from Universities outside Bahrain:
· An Official Withdrawal Letter and Transcript from the concerned University.
· The Withdrawal Letter and Transcript must be attested by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the country of origin (where the student is coming from) or Apostille (if applicable) and Embassy Stamp as per to your nationality requirement in the country of origin.
· Stamped Course Descriptions for all the courses from the concerned University.
· Grade Scale from concerned University showing clear ‘C’ equivalency and credits per subject
Upon completion of the above the students are required to endorse the documents at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Bahrain and the Embassy of the Country of origin (where the student is coming from) in Bahrain.
b) Transfer of Credits from Private Universities in Bahrain:
· Provide an Official Withdrawal Letter and Transcript from the concerned University.
· The Withdrawal Letter and Transcript must be attested by the Ministry of Education in Bahrain.
· Stamped Course Descriptions for all the courses from the concerned University.
· Grade Scale from concerned University showing clear ‘C’ equivalency and credits per subject
c) Transfer of Credits from University of Bahrain:
· Provide an Official Withdrawal Letter and Transcript from the University of Bahrain.
· Course Description for all the courses from the University of Bahrain.
d) Transfer of Credits from within RUW:
As per the ‘’RUW Change of Major’’ policy as stated in the RUW Student Handbook
