The Royal University for Women organizes “The role of women in transforming the International Profile of the Kingdom of Bahrain”

The Royal University for Women (RUW) organized the event "The Role of Women in Transforming the International Profile of the Kingdom of Bahrain’" under the patronage of the University's President, Dr David Stewart. The university hosted its graduates working in the diplomatic field to talk about their work experience in this field and the prominent opportunities and challenges they faced during their work. The event also included the presentation of the President’s Award and Leadership Award and a recognition of the recipients of the Dean’s List Awards for AY 2019-20.

The President of the Royal University for Women, Dr David Stewart, delivered a welcoming speech in which he welcomed the speakers participating in the event, Ms. Ebtisam Khalifa Bahar, Second Secretary, Embassy of the Kingdom of Bahrain to Brussels and Ms. Dalal Adnan Bucheeri, a Diplomatic Attaché at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in the Kingdom of Bahrain. RUW President highlighted that the Kingdom of Bahrain, since its declaration of national day, has witnessed a qualitative leap in all fields to become an international financial centre and that there is no doubt that, in light of the flourishing vision of His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa, Bahrain will become a regional and global centre in all fields, including Education and Labour.

Sheikha Dwa bint Khalid Al Khalifa, Moderator of the session and Lecturer in the Centre for General Studies at the Royal University for Women, emphasized that Royal University for Women has been celebrating this event with passion and enthusiasm since it was established in 2005 and despite the exceptional circumstances of this year, organizing this event evidences the great care and attention that the university attaches to this occasion for every Bahraini woman, especially the university's graduates and students. Sheikha Dwa Al Khalifa extended congratulations to His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa, and Her Royal Highness Princess Sabeeka bint Ibrahim Al Khalifa, wife of His Majesty the King and the President of the Supreme Council for Women on the occasion of the National Day. She mentioned that in the prosperous era of His Majesty the King, Bahraini women were characterized by empowerment, advancement, and their tireless contributions to the progress and sustainable development and that RUW was at the forefront of giving the women of Bahrain the numerous opportunities to excel.

Ms Ebtisam Khalifa Bahar shared her experience in diplomatic work with the audience, noting that it was her dream from a young age to work in the diplomatic field and that her passion for it made her join this sector eight years ago, where she worked in various departments, from which her integrated professional experience was formed that includes aspects of diplomatic work. She emphasized that the skills required for this profession are the power of information, accumulating knowledge, and above all else, pride in  being Bahraini. Ms Ebtisam highlighted the fact that the number of  women working in diplomatic sector exceeds the usual proportions globally, and this is an indication of the assignment and international honour that Bahraini women enjoy.

Ms Dalal Bucheeri added that she joined the Junior Diplomats program to qualify through the Mohammed bin Mubarak Academy for Diplomatic Studies which qualified her with all the knowledge and specifications required by the profession, including international law, Bahrain's history, dynamic thinking, public speaking skills and learning different languages. She indicated that the presence of Bahraini women in leadership positions in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs was an inspiration for her. Ms. Bucheeri emphasized that the Bahraini identity through its history, present, and anticipating the future, is the most prominent trait and skill that a person should possess in this field.

During the virtual event Royal University for Women honoured students who achieved academic distinction and excellence during the academic year 2019/2020 from the three colleges at RUW and the students who achieved Deans List Awards and the President’s Award which was given to Ms. Fatima Irshad Akhtar Ali Hussain from College of Art & Design, Ms. Maryam Musa Issa Al-Dossary from College of Business & Financial Sciences, Ms. Israa Salih Abdul Rahman from College of Law, in addition to the Leadership Award which was given to Ms. Houria Zain Ul Abiddin from the College of Art and Design.
