Royal University for Women Receives Inclusivity Award from ASIC UK

Royal University for Women (RUW), the leading university dedicated to women empowerment and advancement through higher education in Bahrain, has recently received the ASIC Inclusivity Award for the promotion of UN Sustainable Development Goal 5, Gender Equality, from the United Kingdom. The award ceremony took place virtually through ASIC Virtual Conference with the presence of 447 individuals from 37 countries including Dignitaries from Ministries of education, Association of Arab Universities, Times Higher Education (THE) and other universities.

 

Accreditation Service for International Schools, Colleges and Universities (ASIC), based in the United Kingdom, held their first virtual conference on Education Beyond 2021: Exploring New Horizons for International Education in a Disruptive World. In this conference, ASIC awarded universities that had made a meaningful impact on inclusivity and three of the United Nations’ Sustainable Development Goals. Royal University for Women (RUW) has proudly won the award for its efforts in promoting Gender Equality (SDG5).

 

The Acting President of RUW, Dr Mona Suri, praised the efforts done by all the university community to receive such prestigious award and stated that “RUW is an internationally recognized university with the highest standards of quality and excellence, this was reflected in the international higher education community by winning this award. RUW upholds the highest standards for achieving the Sustainable Development Goals, especially for women empowerment and advancement, which is the core mission of RUW among other higher education institutions in Kingdom of Bahrain. We are proud of our team efforts and we look forward to more achievements”.

 

Commenting on this achievement, the Manager of RUW Quality Assurance and Accreditation Unit, Ms Mona Abdul Jawad stated that “RUW has been taking strides in promoting and fulfilling the right that is gender equality. Receiving this award recognises the extensive efforts made by RUW in achieving the UN Sustainable Development Goal 5 (SDG5): Achieve gender equality and empower all women and girls. RUW will continue to be true to its mission in empowering women.”

 

RUW is internationally accredited with ASIC, an internationally renowned quality standard for schools, colleges, universities and online learning providers accreditation which is recognized by the UK Home Office. RUW received superior scores in many of the quality criteria and as a result, was awarded the title of Premier University by ASIC.
