Academic Dean, College of Art and Design (FA4-AD010920)

ESSENTIAL CRITERIA:
  • PhD Degree in any field of Art and Design (Interior, Fashion, Graphic, Architecture, Design Management, Design Philosophy, Fine Arts, or it’s equivalent).
  • Hold the minimum Academic rank of an Associate Professor.
  • At least 2 years of experience in the same capacity or 3 - 5 years of experience as Head of Department of Art and/or Design.
  • Excellent ability to engage with multiple constituencies, including students, faculty members, staff, and alumni, as well as leaders in the business, political, social, and governmental sectors locally, nationally, and internationally.
  • Knowledgeable of relevant professional bodies in Business areas of Art.
  • Experience in academic administration to evidence familiarity with academic programmes, policies and regulations necessary to smoothly govern the activities of college in the university.
  • Evidence of collaborative programme development.
  • With experience in Governance and in the effective management of the human resource, financial and administration functions of a department / unit / center in a tertiary environment.
  • With experience in developing and implementing effective policies and procedures.
  • Having a proven record as a leader in variety of settings.
  • Demonstrated understanding of accreditation and qualification framework.
  • Effective interpersonal and oral and written communication skills in English.

The Royal University for Women invites applications for the position of Dean for the College of Art and Design starting on 1st September 2021. As one of three academic deans, the Dean provides academic and administrative leadership for the College. Applicants for the position must hold an earned doctorate from an accredited institution of higher education in an Art-related field and demonstrate an outstanding record as an educator and scholar. Applicants must possess significant administrative experience in a college or university at the level of academic department head or above or its equivalent for a minimum of two years. The candidate must have experience with accreditation at the College and University levels.


The University is seeking a dynamic visionary leader who promotes excellence, diversity and inclusion, pedagogical innovation, undergraduate and graduate research, internationalization, career and internship development, and entrepreneurial spirit. The Dean will serve under the University organizational structure of the Academic Vice President and will be responsible for the management of the College of Art and Design. The College offers four Bachelor of Arts degrees in Graphic Design, Fashion Design, Interior Design and Bachelor in Architectural Design and two Master’ s degrees: Master of Design Management and Master of Fine Arts in Drawing and Painting.

Assistant / Associate Professor in Design Management

ESSENTIAL CRITERIA:
  • PhD Degree in Design Management or its equivalent
  • A minimum of 3 years of teaching experience in the similar field
DESIRED CRITERIA:
  • Teaching and research experience in the field of Design Management
  • Experience in teaching Design Management-related topics as Design Leadership, Design thinking, Design Entrepreneurship, and others
  • Interdisciplinary focus that facilitates research and teaching
  • Relevant research experience and publications (For Associate Professor position)
  • A record of scholarly and / or professional / creative work is required
  • Excellent Interpersonal, Organizational and Communication skills
  • Ability to participate actively in service to the College, University, and outreach to the community
