Royal University for Women Celebrates the National Sports Day Virtually

In compliance to the directives of His Highness Sheikh Khalid bin Hamad Al Khalifa, First Deputy President of the Supreme Council for Youth and Sports and Chairman of the Bahrain Olympic Committee to celebrate the fifth edition of the National Sports Day on the 9th February 2021, the Office of Student Life at the Royal University for Women organized a virtual training session with the participation of a large number of university students and female employees.

 

Royal University for Women’s participation in this important event comes within its keenness and care in promoting the healthy life of its students and employees, despite the exceptional circumstances of Covid-19 pandemic. RUW hosted the fitness expert Ms Anna Alt from the Lightening Fitness Sports Center who performed various virtual exercises while explaining the benefits of the exercises and their impact on the body. The attendees were taught of a number of important exercises to strengthen their bodies at home. These exercises included push-ups to strengthen the shoulder, hand and abdominal muscles, in addition to fat-burning exercises for the body.

 

Dr Mona Suri, Acting President of the Royal University for Women, indicated that the university was keen to participate in this important event that the Kingdom of Bahrain is celebrating with all its institutions. She emphasized on the importance of sport as an effective health activity during these exceptional circumstances of the COVID-19 pandemic and the possibility of doing exercises from home. She explained that the university is keen on spreading sports culture among its students, which is showcased with having the necessary facilities in the university for this purpose such as the sports centre, a football field and fitness classes such as Zumba and Aerobics which will be fully operational once the pandemic situation improves. These are all provided to make sport and fitness a lifestyle and a recreational activity for the students.
