Acting Dean's Welcome Message

It is with great pleasure that I welcome you to the College of Art and Design (CAD) at the Royal University for Women (RUW). As the Acting Dean of CAD, I am honoured to lead a college that offers a diverse range of undergraduate and postgraduate programmes aimed at nurturing your creative potential.

Within CAD, we currently house two departments that provide a selection of undergraduate programmes and two postgraduate programmes, all designed to awaken the designer within you. Following the completion of the one-year Edexcel BTEC Level 3 Foundation Diploma in Art & Design, which is accredited by Pearson, UK, the Design department offers three Bachelor of Art degrees in Graphic Design, Interior Design, and Fashion Design, each comprising three years of study. Our two postgraduate programmes, spanning two years of study, provide an immersive experience in Design Management or Fine Art in Drawing and Painting, allowing you to pursue advanced studies right here in the Kingdom of Bahrain.

At CAD, our primary objective is to equip our students with the finest skills, tools, and knowledge necessary to tackle the diverse design problems and challenges of our modern world, ranging from the social and cultural to the environmental and economic spheres. We encourage our students to adopt innovative approaches and to think critically, pushing the boundaries of design. Our faculty members, who embody a student-centered approach, alternate between the roles of instructors and facilitators, guiding students to express their unique professional personalities. Interactions between students and faculty are founded on respect, objectivity, and constructive criticism. We place emphasis on evidence-based and user-centered methodologies, underpinned by ethical practices, ensuring that we offer a first-class education that meets local, regional, and international standards. Our dedicated faculty members continuously engage in research, as well as self and professional development, to maintain the highest level of academic excellence.

 CAD at RUW has garnered a strong reputation within the local academic community through our ongoing programme reviews and our commitment to seeking regional and international recognition via internal and external quality assurance processes. The college takes pride in its highly qualified faculty members, composed of esteemed PhD holders and professionals with extensive practical experience. Furthermore, we provide a well-equipped infrastructure, including state-of-the-art studios and a comprehensive library, to support your educational journey.
